[Remote] Software Engineer ( Mainframe Modernization to C#.net / Java)

IT Associates is a billion dollar technology services company based in the US, seeking a Software Engineer for legacy modernization projects. The role involves refactoring COBOL code to C# or Java, ensuring that the modernized applications function correctly through testing and validation.

Responsibilities

  • Applying C# or java coding skills in an Eclipse or Visual Studio modernization environment
  • Developing our core C# or java libraries for modernized environments
  • Setting up testing to ensure that modernized programs function correctly
  • Analyzing problems found during testing and applying code corrections and improvements
  • Coordinating solutions with the team while identifying and implementing process improvements
  • Providing consultation and teachable moments to more junior members of the team

Skills

  • 3+ years of Object-oriented programming in C#, Java or similar languages
  • Git and Visual Studio
  • Experience in software testing and debugging
  • Relational Databases (SQL/ MYSQL/ ORACLE)
  • Undergraduate degree, coding boot camp certification, or equivalent experience
  • Problem solving, strong communication, and teamwork skills
  • Ability to mentor junior associates
  • Familiarity with legacy languages or databases (Mainframe, IDEAL, COBOL, CICS, JCL, Datacom, DB2)
  • Scripting with power shell / python etc. for automation
  • Azure certification
