[Remote] Software Engineer ( Mainframe Modernization to C#.net / Java)

IT Associates is a billion dollar technology services company based in the US, seeking a Software Engineer for legacy modernization projects. The role involves refactoring COBOL code to C# or Java, ensuring that the modernized applications function correctly through testing and validation.
Responsibilities
- Applying C# or java coding skills in an Eclipse or Visual Studio modernization environment
- Developing our core C# or java libraries for modernized environments
- Setting up testing to ensure that modernized programs function correctly
- Analyzing problems found during testing and applying code corrections and improvements
- Coordinating solutions with the team while identifying and implementing process improvements
- Providing consultation and teachable moments to more junior members of the team
Skills
- 3+ years of Object-oriented programming in C#, Java or similar languages
- Git and Visual Studio
- Experience in software testing and debugging
- Relational Databases (SQL/ MYSQL/ ORACLE)
- Undergraduate degree, coding boot camp certification, or equivalent experience
- Problem solving, strong communication, and teamwork skills
- Ability to mentor junior associates
- Familiarity with legacy languages or databases (Mainframe, IDEAL, COBOL, CICS, JCL, Datacom, DB2)
- Scripting with power shell / python etc. for automation
- Azure certification
