Human Resources Benefit Specialist - Hybrid Work Environment

The Benefits Specialist is responsible for administering Vanderweil’s employee benefit programs and manages the day-to-day operations of our group benefits including health, dental, vision, FSA, disability, life, retirement plans, wellness and vendor coordination.
Responsibilities
- Administer and maintain all employee benefit programs, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, FSA/HSA, and retirement plans.
- Process enrollments, changes, and terminations in HRIS.
- Ensure accurate and timely benefits deductions and collaborate with payroll to resolve discrepancies.
- Ensuring proper notifications are sent to employees.
- Serve as a benefits subject‑matter expert and provide guidance to employees regarding plan options, coverage, and policies.
- Answer questions timely and solves problems.
- Conduct benefits orientations for new hires.
- Develop clear, user‑friendly benefits communications and educational materials.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, and FMLA.
- Assist with annual filings such as ACA reporting, 5500 documents, and nondiscrimination testing.
- Maintain accurate employee records and ensure audit readiness.
- Act as primary liaison with brokers, carriers, and benefit vendors.
- Monitor service levels and escalating issues as needed.
- Support the evaluation and implementation of new or updated benefit offerings.
- Maintain benefits data integrity within HRIS systems.
- Manage the Open Enrollment Process
- Analyze benefits utilization data and prepare reports or recommendations for leadership.
- Identify opportunities to streamline processes and enhance the employee experience.
- Conduct exit interviews ensuring that employees are educated on benefit transitions
- Coordinate and execute wellness activities
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field required.
- 8 + years of proven experience as an HR Benefits Professional.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of employees, clients and company.
- Must be able to work independently on HR projects and initiatives.

- Knowledge of ADP Workforce now preferred.
