Volunteer Cyber Security Officer (Unpaid)

Description

We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Volunteer Cybersecurity Officer to help safeguard our organization’s digital assets, systems, and data. This is an unpaid volunteer position for individuals with experience in cybersecurity, IT security, or related fields who are passionate about protecting sensitive information and maintaining a secure online environment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor, maintain, and enhance the organization’s IT security systems and protocols.
• Identify, assess, and mitigate potential cybersecurity threats or vulnerabilities.
• Provide guidance on best practices for secure handling of data and systems for staff and volunteers.
• Assist with incident response, including investigating and addressing security breaches.
• Ensure compliance with applicable data protection laws and regulations.
• Help implement security policies, user access controls, and risk management strategies.

Qualifications

• Experience in cybersecurity, network security, or IT systems administration.
• Knowledge of threat detection, vulnerability assessment, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Familiarity with firewalls, encryption, antivirus software, and monitoring tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and act with integrity at all times.
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CEH, Security+) are a plus but not required.
