Amazon Channel Manager (Publishing & Media)

Upwork

Company: Alfred Music

Role Type: Contractor

Focus: Amazon Advantage (Consignment) & Amazon Advertising

Role Overview

Alfred Music is looking for a strategic Amazon Channel Manager to oversee our physical catalog on Amazon. We operate on a consignment basis (Amazon Advantage), which requires a specialist who understands how to manage high-volume purchase orders (POs), resolve catalog discrepancies, and drive sales through Amazon Marketing Services (AMS).

Your goal is to ensure that Alfred Music’s top titles—from the Suzuki Method to our latest pop folios—never go out of stock and are always optimized for search.

Key Responsibilities

1. Consignment & Operations Management (Amazon Advantage)

PO Management: Monitor and accept weekly Purchase Orders (POs) from Amazon. Coordinate with our warehouse to ensure on-time fulfillment.

Inventory Forecasting: Analyze Amazon’s "Estimated Sales" vs. "On Hand" stock to prevent stock-outs and manage seasonal surges (e.g., Back-to-School).

Catalog Health: Fix suppressed listings, update metadata (titles, descriptions, ISMNs/ISBNs), and manage product relationships (e.g., ensuring a "Piano Book" and its "CD Accompaniment" are correctly linked).

Dispute Resolution: Manage shortage claims and chargebacks to ensure we are paid accurately for every unit shipped.

2. Amazon Ads & Marketing

AMS Strategy: Manage Sponsored Products and Sponsored Brands campaigns with a specific focus on defending our top brands and capturing "Method" searches.

A+ Content & Brand Store: Build and maintain high-quality A+ Content and an Amazon Brand Store that reflects Alfred Music’s educational authority.

Promotional Calendar: Set up "Price Drops" or "Deals" in coordination with our broader marketing efforts.

3. Reporting & Strategy

Sales Analysis: Provide monthly reports on Amazon "Sell-Through" (what customers bought) vs. "Sell-In" (what Amazon ordered from us).

Competitive Insights: Monitor the sheet music and music education category to identify new keyword opportunities or market shifts.

Qualifications

Amazon Advantage Expertise: 3+ years of experience specifically with the Amazon Advantage or Vendor Central platforms (consignment/wholesale models).

Publishing Background: Familiarity with ISBN/ISMN management and the physical book/media supply chain.

Advertising Proficiency: Deep experience with Amazon Advertising Console (formerly AMS).

Data-Driven: Ability to look at a spreadsheet of 1,000+ SKUs and identify which titles are underperforming or at risk of stocking out.

Why this role is unique

You won't just be "selling products"; you'll be managing the digital shelf for the world’s largest educational music publisher. You will have a direct hand in how students and teachers discover the tools they need to make music.
