Senior UI/UX Designer — iOS App (Hierarchy & Purposeful Design)
Upwork
Read carefully, this is not a normal design role.
The Vision
I am building an app for young men who want to become the best version of themselves and live with relentless purpose. It will function as a character builder, life planner, and command center, allowing for control and clarity.
This app treats life as a campaign, not a checklist.
This app is forged around ancient principles of power, ambition, and self-mastery, taking its greatest inspiration from figures like:
Generals: Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Napoleon Bonaparte
Philosophers: Aristotle, Socrates, Marcus Aurelius
The main screen is the command center—where everything that the user needs to complete their goals will be found. Here, distractions are absent, replaced with only the most important and time sensitive actions, wisdom, and information that are directly applicable to the user’s life.
The primary feature of the command center is the battle map—an elevated view of campaigns (long-term goals), missions (immediate actions), and progress toward the user’s grand vision.
There is
- An AI strategic advisor, trained in philosophy and strategy will sharpen the user’s thinking and challenge their wisdom.
- A philosophy section focused on self-mastery, mental discipline, timeless ideas, and actionable wisdom.
- A planning section that allows users to turn their ambitions into reality, while utilizing strategy the way a master general would.
This product must feel
- Powerful
- Commanding
- Heroic
- Wise
- Virtuous
- Serious
- Timeless
If the app does not feel like a commander overseeing his campaigns and a philosopher placing meaning behind his actions, it has failed.
Who This Is For
This role is for a UI/UX designer with both skill and restraint.
You must
- Be able to refine, restructure, and elevate existing designs
- Make designs interactive — clickable prototypes, transitions, pop-ups, sub-screens.
- Understand mobile / iOS UI/UX deeply
- Collaborate effectively with a visual designer
- Think in hierarchy, weight, strategy, and clarity
- Understand how visual structure communicates power, importance, and command
- Prepare developer-ready assets
But skill alone is not enough. Your mindset and approach are equally important.
You must
- Respect a strong creative vision
- Execute precisely without trying to “improve” the app’s values, style, ideals, or purpose by injecting your own idea of what the app should be or look like
- Not impose trendy, corporate, minimalist, or modern themes/styles under any circumstances
This is not a collaboration where we “meet in the middle.”
This is the execution of a clearly defined vision.
Who This Is NOT For (Important)
Do not apply if
- You favor modern, minimalist, SaaS, startup, or corporate aesthetics
- You believe everything should be friendly, soft, or “accessible”
- You feel the need to put your personal artistic signature on every product
- You are uncomfortable with themes of ambition, dominance, hierarchy, or excellence
- You want creative control over the direction of the app
This app is intentionally intense.
Dilution of this intensity will not be an option.
What You Will Be Designing/Refining
- A command-center main screen that feels strategic, commanding, and powerful
- Goal systems framed as campaigns and missions
- Interfaces that communicate priority, gravity, and consequence
- UX flows that encourage discipline, foresight, and execution
- A philosophical section that feels reflective, serious, and timeless
- A planning page that feels strategic, ambitious, and decisive
- Sub-screens for existing features
Every screen should answer one question
“Does this make the user feel more in command of their life?”
Communication Standards
Clear language and consistent communication are essential to bring this app to life.
You must
- Speak and write fluent, precise English
- Be comfortable communicating frequently on calls
- Articulate design decisions, reasoning, and tradeoffs without ambiguity
If you cannot communicate with clarity, confidence, and discipline, this role is not a fit.
