Overview
A Washington, D.C. based government contracting firm is seeking an internal Human Resource and Payroll Specialist to run the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including on-boarding / off-boarding, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices as well as process payroll and maintain employee time records.
In Short
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with training and assessments.
- Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Administers human resource programs including compensation, benefits, and leave.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants and employees.
- Maintains compliance with employment laws and regulations.
- Processes payroll information and ensures proper deductions.
- Records and processes payroll tax deposits.
- Maintains knowledge of HR trends and best practices.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate when appropriate.
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to learn HRIS and payroll software quickly.
