Job Summary:

The HR Generalist will manage daily HR operations, focusing on supporting and enhancing the employee experience at our substance abuse treatment facility. This role will handle recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, employee relations, compliance, and general HR duties to ensure alignment with organizational goals and state/federal regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in healthcare or substance abuse treatment environments and will understand the unique needs of this industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment & Onboarding
  • Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs, create job descriptions, and post job openings.
  • Screen applicants, conduct initial interviews, and facilitate the onboarding process for new hires.
  • Oversee background checks, credential verification, and licensure confirmation in compliance with regulations.
  • Employee Relations
  • Serve as the main point of contact for employee inquiries related to HR policies, benefits, and workplace issues.
  • Promote a positive workplace culture by addressing employee concerns and mediating conflicts.
  • Facilitate employee feedback sessions and work to improve job satisfaction and retention.
  • Benefits Administration
  • Coordinate benefits enrollment, answer employee questions, and assist with resolving any benefits-related issues.
  • Ensure accurate administration of leave policies, including FMLA, PTO, and any state-specific requirements.
  • Maintain knowledge of available employee support resources, especially those related to mental health and addiction.
  • Compliance & Documentation
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.
  • Update and maintain employee records, ensuring all documentation is accurate and stored securely.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and communication of HR policies and procedures.
  • Training & Development
  • Support the development of staff training programs, with an emphasis on skills related to substance abuse treatment and patient care.
  • Conduct training on HR-related topics, such as harassment prevention, diversity and inclusion, and ethical conduct.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous professional development and support employee growth within the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience as an HR Generalist or in a similar HR role; experience in healthcare or substance abuse facilities preferred.
  • Strong understanding of HR practices, employment law, and experience with HRIS systems.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with a commitment to confidentiality.
  • Ability to handle sensitive issues professionally and to maintain composure in challenging situations.

Preferred Skills:

  • Familiarity with addiction treatment and mental health services.
  • Knowledge of state-specific HR regulations applicable to healthcare facilities.
  • Certification (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP) is a plus.

Working Conditions:

  • Primarily remote
  • Ability to work in a dynamic, patient-centered environment.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
